Airforce chief warns trouble makers

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, has warned that no individual or group will be allowed to undermine Nigeria’s sovereignt­y, saying, the Nigerian Air Force is committed to enthroneme­nt of profession­alism.

Speaking at the Passing out

CParade of 591 recruits of Basic Military Training Course 35/2016 at the NAF Base in Kaduna yesterday, the Air Force boss said the rigorous military training the recruits have received, was designed to prepare them for further specialist training and the challengin­g career in the Service.

He said 500 NAF personnel have been sent to different parts of the world for training with a view to reposition­ing the Service. atholic priests have lamented the increase in abductions of the clergy in parts of the country, saying government must take action. Rev. Fr. Christophe­r Namibia, assistant parish priest of Catholic Cathedral of the Twelve Apostles in Abuja’s Central Business District, who spoke on behalf of priests, lamented the recent kidnap of priests in Makurdi and Kano and the collection of ransom.

“We are living in a chaotic situation and there is an urgent need for the government of the day to sit up,” he added.

“The NAF is acquiring platforms and is building capacity to ensure that the Service is adequately positioned to deal in collaborat­ion with other sister Services the challenge facing Nigeria.

“To man these platforms, we have sent over 500 personnel to different parts of the world for training. Thirty five pilots are currently undergoing basic training”, he said.
