Taraba group faults APC chairman on Ishaku

- By Fidelis Mac-Leva

The Taraba Mandate Group (TMG) has faulted the All Progressives Congress (APC) criticisms of Governor Darius Ishaku, saying much of their complaints were unfounded.

In a statement, Yunus Alkali, the leader of the group, said the party’s attacks on the Taraba State government were borne out of the dearth of ideas.

He said, “having just suffered a stunning defeat both on the field and in the court, the APC recently reared its head again to peddle falsehood concerning the progressive PDP government led by Architect Darius Dickson Ishaku. In an interview carried in Daily Trust on Tuesday, the APC state chairman declared that Taraba currently lacks direction. From the bold headline, you would think the APC was going to itemise why it said the state lacks direction.”

Alkali said such position was laughable and lacked in substance. The statement said, “the chairman did not point out how government has lost focus in all the other areas of the economy. His grouse which he vehemently outlined is the lack of grazing land, which is not an issue. If that was all the APC chairman could say, then glory be to God because it means Governor Ishaku is on course.”

The statement added: “We have a government that is performing and has achieved a lot already in one year in the areas of roads construction, social welfare and other developmental endeavours. In the past one year Governor Ishaku has clearly stood out as a beacon of astute statesman in keeping with the goals of the rescue agenda. Even the government’s worst critics have continued to give it credits for touching lives everywhere. Taraba is now among top states in the federation meeting their obligation to civil servants and the general citizenry. Here is a government that is focused, articulate and very conscious of it’s place in history”.
