Catholic bishops’conference holds in Akure

Catholic bishops in Nigeria along with superiors of religious congregati­ons are in Akure, the Ondo State capital for the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN).

According to the programme of events released by the Ondo Catholic Diocese, emanating from a meeting held on Thursday, at the Ondo Catholic Diocesan Secretaria­t by its publicity team, the bishops following their arrival, held a meeting with superiors of religious congregati­ons on Friday and on Saturday commission­ed the Seat of Wisdom Catholic College, Alagbaka, Akure.

The programme said the bishops, after opening of the new college, had an interactiv­e session with laity representa­tives from dioceses in Ibadan Ecclesiast­ical Province and also toured the medical village, education and other urban renewal infrastruc­tures in Ondo State.

On Sunday September 11, there will be an opening mass/ceremony at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cathedral in Akure by the Papal Nucio to Nigeria, Archbishop Augustine Kasujja, with other college of bishops and priests of both Ondo Diocese and other dioceses in Ibadan Province.

The programmes also said the bishops will on Wednesday September 14, 2016, pay visits to all the local parishes across the diocese while on Thursday September 15, there will be a closing Mass/ ceremony at Mary Queen of Angels parish, Akure and thereafter, a communiqué will be issued.

The bishops, before departing Akure on Friday September 16, 2016, will open the Church of Ascension Parish, in Ondo area of the state.
