ONLINE BUK defies FG, conducts post-UTME
Ithink the government is wrong here! The postUTME is necessary for some institutions. When you have 20,000 qualified applicants but you can only admit 5,000. How do you go about it? The government is saying the results should be treated based on grades. But I think there would be marginalization in this. Some schools or even sections of the country always present better grades than others? Why not give the students a level playing field through the post-UTME?
The federal government is trying to restore confidence in our educational system. Subjecting prospecting students to all sort of exam after WAEC, NECO and JAMB doesn’t make sense. It is unfortunate that this is happening in BUK. I hope that the minister will take action against the university. This is denigrating the office of the minister. I urge the minister to cancel the examination and sanction the institution’s authorities. People should also know that a fee of 2,500.00 was paid by the applicants. 64
It’s unfortunate. The federal government should sanction the institution and any other one that engages in the practice.
I think the minister needs to re-visit his decision because a university with 20,000 applicants cannot admit people without conducting other tests.
How does the federal government expect BUK to admit 5000 applicants out of 20,000, without conducting post-UTME?
With the proliferation of miracle centres, where WAEC results are negotiated, I think BUK did the right thing.
The BUK management should be sanctioned for not abiding by the rule banning conduct of post-UTME.
We just need to wait and see what action the federal government will take through the Ministry of Education.
I support BUK on this matter; screening the applicants through post-UTME is the only genuine way of selecting the best.
