Egbuchulam will succeed at any dub - Amakabapo

- By Mansur Abubakar

Enugu Rangers coach Imama Amakabapo has heaped praises on star striker Chisom Egbuchulam who helped his side achieve last season’s historic triumph saying the player has it takes to become a massive hit at any club if given the chance to flourish. Impressed Super Eagles coach Salisu Yusuf last week picked the league champion alongside three other players who were outstanding in the annual pre-season tournament of the Nigeria Professional Football League (Super 4) for the next Eagles ‘get together’. In a chat with Fever Pitch, Amakapabo says the player who netted 16 goals last seasons deserved all the accolades he’s getting at this time because he has proven himself to be a very effective striker.

“All I can say about him is that he’s an amazing and talented player who has what it takes to do well at any club and at Rangers we are glad to call him our own.” The Super Eagles assistant manager said.

Meanwhile, Rangers have asked Tunisian club Etoile du Sahel to pay $500,000 for the transfer of star striker Chisom Egbuchulam according to africanfootball.com.

“Rangers have responded to an enquiry for Chisom by asking the Tunisian club to pay them $500,000,” a top official disclosed.

Egbuchulam himself has confirmed Etoile’s interest and said he wishes to now ply his trade overseas.

Belgian club Lokeren are equally interested in the player, who has transformed from a bit player to the star of Rangers under coach Amapakabo.

He said he still has a year left on his contract with ‘The Flying Antelopes’.

Last season, Egbuchulam scored 16 goals in the league, a record which earned him a call-up to the Eagles squad for 2018 World Cup qualifier in Zambia last october.

As a winger or a striker, Egbuchulam is powerful, skillful and packs a shot as he again demonstrated with his well-taken brace against Rivers United in the on-going NPFL Super 4 in Enugu.
