‘Little Messi’ Bata vows to wreck Nasarawa Utd

- By David Ngobua

El-Kanemi Warriors young striker, Hussaini Bata alias Little Messi has vowed to score against visiting Nasarawa United in tomorrow’s NPFL week 10 fixture in Maiduguri.

Bata was the match winner for El-Kanemi Warriors in their first away win of the season when they defeated host Abia Warriors 1-0 in Umuahia last Sunday.

His goal in the 8th minute of the match was enough to earn his team the maximum points against the warriors of Abia State.

Speaking to Daily Trust on Sunday yesterday the youngster said the victory over Abia Warriors is the turning point for El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri.

He said having ended their poor away record, they are now ready to face any team that comes up against them.

He said against Abia Warriors, nobody gave them a chance but their coach Ladan Bosso who once handled Abia Warriors knows something about them and it was easy to decode their game plan.

According to Bata, Nasarawa United won’t escape defeat in Maiduguri because El-Kanemi Warriors are not ready to have their home invincibility run ended anytime soon.

He therefore promised to score at least a goal to ensure that his team comes out tops in the mouthwatering tie.

“I am still happy with my performance against Abia Warriors. Before the match, nobody gave us a chance but we were determined to end our poor away record.

“It was not an easy match but our coach knows Abia Warriors like the back of his hand so he was able to guide us through.

“Our match against Nasarawa United is another tough encounter but we are ready to beat them. We have not lost any match at home and we are not ready for any home loss.

“I was happy when I scored against Abia Warriors and I want to score again. I will redouble my effort because it is not going to be an easy task,” he said.

Bata who said he is happy to be compared with Lionel Messi of Barcelona said he is still learning his trade.
