Eagles friendly against Stallions cancelled

-

The proposed friendly between Nigeria and Burkina Faso at the Hive Stadium in London has been cancelled due to visa challenges faced by Nigeria’s opponents.

The President of the Burkinabé Football Federation, Sita Sangaré, stated that the invited players, officials and coaching staff encountered difficulties with their visa applications to the United Kingdom.

“On the whole delegation, only 8 players were able to obtain visas. I do not know to date if the match against Nigeria will take place,” Sita Sangaré stated.

Burkina Faso’s Plan B if is to face South Americans Chile or Thailand in a possible friendly in Europe.

The Stallions lost 2-0 to Morocco in a friendly held in Marrakech on Friday, March 24.

Meanwhile, Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho has shared his thoughts on Nigeria’s 1-1 draw with Senegal in an international friendly staged at the Hive Stadium on Thursday.

The former Golden Eaglets sensation admitted that the Teranga Lions were a tough nut to crack, and has turned his focus to the upcoming match against Burkina Faso.

“Tough game but we came back at the end. We focus on the next game #SuperEagles @ NGSuperEagles @thenff #KI72,” Iheanacho posted on Twitter.

His goal versus Senegal took his tally to five goals from eight appearances for the three-time African champions. The 20-yearold Iheanacho has netted 7 goals in 24 games for Man City this term.
