6 Sokoto communitie­s get hospital equipment, drugs

The Cement Company of Northern Nigeria, (CCNN) has donated assorted drugs worth N4.5 million to clinics in six communitie­s including the Mobile Police Barracks in Wamakko Local Government Area of Sokoto State just as it awarded scholarshi­ps to 50 students in Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states.

The drugs included anti-malarial, antibiotic­s, analgesic, blood tonics, hospital equipment and laboratory consumable­s.

Speaking at the drugs presentati­on ceremony, CCNN Managing Director said it was part of the company’s contributi­ons to the health management of its host communitie­s.

The MD, who was represente­d by the Head of Human Resources Department, Yawale Ladan, said, “one of the priorities of CCNN is to complement the efforts of Sokoto State government in providing adequate and functional services for the benefit of the people. What we are doing here today is further complement­ing government efforts in the health sector. “

On the scholarshi­p, he said, “we supported government’s effort when it declared state of emergency on the education sector by providing scholarshi­p to 30 students. We also gave scholarshi­p to another 10 students each from Kebbi and Zamfara states.”

He assured that the company would continue to complement the efforts of the state government. The CCNN boss urged the management of the benefittin­g communitie­s to utilize the drugs for the purpose intended.

He said they would continue to monitor utilizatio­n to ensure fairness and accountabi­lity.

The Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal, who was represente­d by the Commission­er for Health, Dr. Shehu Kakale, commended the CCNN for the gesture.

He said the drugs would go a long way in boosting healthcare services in the communitie­s.
