6 Sokoto communities get hospital equipment, drugs
The Cement Company of Northern Nigeria, (CCNN) has donated assorted drugs worth N4.5 million to clinics in six communities including the Mobile Police Barracks in Wamakko Local Government Area of Sokoto State just as it awarded scholarships to 50 students in Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states.
The drugs included anti-malarial, antibiotics, analgesic, blood tonics, hospital equipment and laboratory consumables.
Speaking at the drugs presentation ceremony, CCNN Managing Director said it was part of the company’s contributions to the health management of its host communities.
The MD, who was represented by the Head of Human Resources Department, Yawale Ladan, said, “one of the priorities of CCNN is to complement the efforts of Sokoto State government in providing adequate and functional services for the benefit of the people. What we are doing here today is further complementing government efforts in the health sector. “
On the scholarship, he said, “we supported government’s effort when it declared state of emergency on the education sector by providing scholarship to 30 students. We also gave scholarship to another 10 students each from Kebbi and Zamfara states.”
He assured that the company would continue to complement the efforts of the state government. The CCNN boss urged the management of the benefitting communities to utilize the drugs for the purpose intended.
He said they would continue to monitor utilization to ensure fairness and accountability.
The Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal, who was represented by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Shehu Kakale, commended the CCNN for the gesture.
He said the drugs would go a long way in boosting healthcare services in the communities.
