Mark preaches peace among arms of government

- By Ismail Mudashir

Aformer senate president, Senator David Mark, yesterday sued for peace among the arms of government without which dividends of democracy cannot be delivered.

Addressing a congregation at a special thanksgiving mass in his Otukpo country home in Benue State to mark his 69th birthday, he craved for harmonious working relationship between and among the three arms of government.

Mark in a statement by his media aide, Mr Paul Mumeh, pointed out that such synergy was required.

Taking stock of his journey through life, he said, he has resolved to continue to serve God and humanity for the rest of his life.

According to him, he would concentrate more on charity works especially on young people, noting that God has been merciful to him.

“For anyone who has wronged me in any way, I have forgiven,” Mark said, urging those he offended to also forgive him.

The former senate president said he wants to see in his life time, a nation where every citizen was free to pursue his or her legitimate ambition without fear of intimidation or molestation.

In the homily, Rev. Fathers Sylvester Onmonke and Kenneth Odeh preached peace, unity and forgiveness among Nigerians just as they prayed that God grant leaders at all levels the wisdom to embark on policies and programmes that would ameliorate the pains of the people.
