IRWA tasks FG on up-to-date maps
The International Right of Way Association (IRWA) Nigeria, Chapter 84, recently organized its 4th educational seminar and annual general meeting in Abuja, which included the inauguration of a new executive led by the president, Feechi Grant-Ken Akobundu.
Surveyor Leonard C. Ugwu, who presented the first paper, said the provision of base map is cardinal and therefore called on the federal government to conduct periodic mapping every five years because of the relevance of up-to-date maps in enumeration and boundary regulations.
The outgoing president, IRWA, Esv. Kenechukwu Onuora, said the theme for this year, ‘Right of Way Acquisition and Property Condemnation’ will open debate on some of the policies affecting members and the community.
He said the education conference was a platform where Right of Way professionals come together to share practical knowledge, technology, and openly debate on policies that best work for individual operators and the community at large.
He said the Nigerian chapter of IRWA, inaugurated in 2013, is the first chapter in West Africa and the second in Africa, after South Africa and that the vision of IRWA is to create awareness, trust and confidence in Right of Way professionals who contribute to building a better world.
