Dangote’s mum donates mosque, feeds 5,000 daily
The mother of business mogul, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Hajia Marya Sanusi Dantata, has completed a multi-million naira juma’at mosque in Kano State. According to a statement issued yesterday, she also feeds an average of 5,000 people daily.
After leading the jumaat prayers at the new mosque, the Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II, commended Hajia Marya for the gesture and contributions to the Muslim Ummah, while praying Allah to reward her abundantly.
He said Hajia Marya is a great philanthropist that has been lending a helping hand in Kano State.
According to him, Africa is the biggest beneficiary of Marya’s gesture for giving the continent Dangote Group’s president. Her son, Aliko Dangote, has also been described as Africa’s biggest donor. Dangote was present at the opening ceremony of the mosque.
Also present were Kano State Deputy Governor, Professor Hafiz Abubakar, commissioners and other top government officials.
Speaking to newsmen, the donor said she built the mosque for Allah’s sake and not for worldly reward, adding that she would not rest on her oars in supporting the poor.
Worshippers, who commended her, said Hajiya Marya’s charity works were not new to them as she had donated schools and hospitals in the past.
The statement added that it was due to her contributions to the society that the Bayero University, Kano, awarded her an honorary doctorate degree.
