PDP should be wary of moles, Ali Kano warns

- By Latifat Opoola

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) should be wary of moles within its fold in its drive towards reconciliation of all stakeholders in the party, Alhaji Abdullahi Ali Kano said.

Ali Kano, a PDP chieftain and member of the 2015 Presidential Campaign Council of the party said the apex court’s judgment has ended a conflict that was capable of destroying the opposition party.

He however warned that Senator Ahmed Muhammed Makarfi should be careful of moles whose aim is to destroy the party.

“The painful experience our party went through under Senator Ali Modu Sheriff should serve as a lesson to the party leadership. The party shouldn’t be taken for granted again,” he said.

Ali Kano said the turbulent times the PDP went through is enough to educate us that “not all that glitter is gold. The party shouldn’t admit moles into its fold in the name of reconciliation.”

He said the national leadership of the party needs to “work harder in bringing all segments of the party under one umbrella ahead of the 2019 elections. The chances of the PDP to bounce back in the next general elections are brighter. The party must do everything possible not to waste those chances.”

But these chances of bouncing back in 2019 “may be jeopardised if wolves in sheep skins are allowed to takeover critical positions in the party”.
