Taraba gov flags-off N5.8bn rural road project
Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State has flagged off the construction of a 30-kilometer Wukari-Tsokundi road in Wukari Local Government Area of the state.

The Sokoto State Zakkat and Endowment Commission has disbursed the sum of over N8million to various hospitals and medicine stores as support to patients that could not afford their services.
Speaking, the chairman of the Commission, Malam Lawal Maidoki said the money was meant only for the payment of medical bills and medicines for those patients.
He warned that those who have the means of footing up their bills should not benefit from it. months.
Governor Ishaku, while flagging off the project reiterated his administration’s commitment towards delivering the state from “economic backwardness”, pointing out that provision of roads across the state is necessary to achieving the set objectives.
He said his administration has prioritized provision of roads, agriculture and power supply.
“There are some people who can afford these services but prefer to meet these committees for support which is very unfair and immoral,” he said
He advised members of the committees to fear God in discharging their responsibilities.
Maidoki also advised wealthy individuals to imbibe the culture of assisting their needy neighbours, particularly the sick ones.
The Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital and Psychiatric hospital, Kware received N2 million each while the Orthopaedics Hospital, Wamakko and others received N500,000 each.
According to him, the initiative is aimed at turning around the fortunes of the state.
The governor said he was determined to reposition the state so that the various communities would have a sense of belonging. He also appealed to people of the state to give his administration maximum support.
He directed the Chinese firm handling the Wukari Tsokundi road to ensure quality work. The governor who asked the contractors to engage indigenes of the area in the execution of the project as part of their corporate responsibility to the community, also appealed to the benefiting communities to cooperate with the contractors.
Earlier, the Commissioner of Works, Dr. Tafarki Agbadu, said due process was strictly adhered to in the selection of the contractors.
