Plateau United not under pressure – Umar

The Plateau United talismanic striker Kabiru Umar has said that they were not under any pressure on their quest to win the league’s title for the first time in the history of the club.

Umar who spoke with Daily Trust in Jos yesterday also said

“You can only use the Javelin I use now to train upcoming athlete to show them that this is Javelin,’’ she said.

Nwanaga, who broke Sorochukwu Ihuefo’s long standing women’s Javelin record of 55.30m set in 2002, said that Nigerian athletes were expected to perform well, but with less support from the authoritie­s. despite stiffer challenges they were facing from opponents during matches, they remain resolute, focus and steadfast to win Nigeria Profession­al Football League trophy this season.

The former Kano Pillars and Enugu Rangers striker urged their fans to to be the team’s 12th man during matches and to desist from

“You are being given less and they will expect much from you, they want me to qualify for world championsh­ips with a training Javelin which is not possible.

“What I need is either the Nordic or Nemeth Javelin which is in vogue at internatio­nal competitio­ns,’’ she said.

She added that she hoped to be among the first five in the world. any act that would make them to play their home matches away from home.

Umar who also played for Shooting Stars last season, called on his teammates to be strong, work harder and be focus and resilient during today’s match against Mountain of Fire Ministries (MFM) FC at Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos.
