Former education minister task school on teachers welfare

Former Minister of Education, Prof. Iyorchia Ayu, has called on the management of Lakeland International School to do its best in ensuring that teachers are not owed salaries and their welfare packages so that they can put in their best in impacting quality knowledge on the children they teach.

Speaking yesterday at the launch of Lakeland International School, Abuja, he tasked the management that the structural edifice of the school was not the major priority in ensuring quality education but that the motivation and welfare given to teachers which will spur them to put in their best and deliver quality service. He lamented the decline of education in the public sector and hoped that it will be resuscitated very soon, hence private schools should also do their best in complementing the government’s efforts in the area of education.

Ayu told the management to unite the country through education by creating programmes that will encourage the little ones to see themselves as one.

On his part, former deputy governor of Kogi State, Yomi Awoniyi, said stakeholders must share the blame for the decline in the education system in Nigeria.

Proprietor of the school, Mr. Christopher Osarumwense, said the school was created to impact global and quality international education standards to the children and society.

He said that the aspect of staff welfare and salaries was properly sorted out while creating the policies governing the school.
