…Saraki, Ekweremadu, Dogara hail Super Eagles

Senate President, Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, have congratula­ted the Super Eagles and Nigerians on the nation’s qualificat­ion for the FIFA World Cup, scheduled to hold in Russia next year.

Saraki, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media & Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, said that being in Uyo to witness firsthand the dedication, poise and consistenc­y of the players, it gives hope that the team will represent Africa well at the next World Cup.

He congratula­ted the players for the way that they have played throughout the qualifying phase.

Saraki also stated that the Senate would work to ensure that the players are well equipped and well-prepared for the 2018 outing, while urging the Nigerian Football Federation and the Ministry of Sports not to take its feet off the pedal ahead of the competitio­n.

For his part, Ekweremadu, in a statement by his media aide Uche Anichikwu said “The Eagles were super in every sense of the word in the race to Russia. They lived the Nigerian spirit. They demonstrat­ed that united we can scale over every mountain. They made us proud. I duff the cap for them.”

Also, Speaker of the House of Representa­tives, Yakubu Dogara, in a statement by Turaki Hassan, his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, hailed members of the national team for their dedication and patriotism, and commitment to doing Nigeria proud by qualifying for the World Cup.
