Ganduje sacks 5 commissioners
Kano State governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, yesterday sacked five of his commissioners, just as he swore-in six new ones.
Those relieved of their position are; Haruna Muhammad Falali, who was in charge of the Justice ministry, Ahmed Rabi’u, Commerce, Hajiya Zubaida Damakka Abubakar, Planning and Budget, Engineer Shehu Haruna Lambu, Works and Professor Kabiru Isa Dandago, who was at the Finance ministry.
The newly appointed commissioners are; Barrister Ibrahim Mukhtar (Justice), Engineer Aminu Aliyu (Works, Housing and Transport), Alhaji Aminu Mukhtar Dan Amu (finance), Alhaji Ahmed Rabi’u (Commerce), Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso (Special Duties) and Hajiya Aishatu Jafar Yusuf (Planning and Budget).
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the new commissioners, the state governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, said the appointments were based on individual capability, integrity and acceptability in their respective constituencies.
He maintained that there was a need to inject new blood into the executive council since it is the highest policy making body in the state.
He, however, cautioned the appointees to steer clear of corruption, as according to him government would not condone corrupt practices.
“We expect you to work in harmony individually and collectively so that the good work we have started will be sustained.
“We also expect you to utilise your political influence and work for government. We have limited time to achieve our political goals,” he said.
