On the new Rector at Kadpoly

- Yusuf Muazu Isa & Ibrahim Mustapha Pambegua wrote from Kaduna

The appointment of Professor Idris Mohammed Bugaje, as the new Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaduna (Kadpoly) is a welcome development. The appointment could not have come at a better time in view of the crises that have rocked the institution in recent times. I am very confident that Professor Bugaje is fully prepared to reposition the institution for effective academic services. He has carved a niche for himself in the public service in the last one decade. He was a Rector at the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, and he performed well. His score card and selfless service offered him a job at the Nigeria Institute for Chemical Technology (NARICT), Zaria as a Director General.

During his time as Director General, Mohammed Bugaje earned the institute a good name nationally and internationally.

During his sojourn at NARICT, the institute won the Nigeria Society of Chemical Engineers (NSCCE) Award on Heat Integration on Methanol Plant in 2013. Also in line with its mandate, the institute developed vaccine for tomatoes Ebola. Also to his credit, the institute held the first homeland security training program meant to curtail terrorism and radicalism. In 2015, under his leadership, NARICT entered into partnership with the Raw Material Research Development Council (RMRDC) to fabricate a fertilizer blending plant, using extract from the moringa oleifara plant.

It is believed that Prof Bugaje will use his wealth of experience to reposition Kadpoly for academic excellence.
