Philippe Coutinho heads Barcelona’s January list

-

Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho is reportedly topping Barcelona’s Christmas wishlist as the Catalan giants draw up their plans for the January transfer window.

Barca attempted to lure the Brazilian away from Anfield in the summer but the Reds stood firm despite their star man handing in a transfer request.

But they are not ready to give up in their pursuit, with Marca reporting he is their prime target when the winter sales open in the new year.

Barca also want to offload Arda Turan after failing to move the midfielder on over the summer. Turan rejected a switch to Galatasaray in favour of staying at the Nou Camp, where he has a contract until 2020.

A deal for Colombian youngster Yerry Mina is already agreed but the date in which he is set to join is still up in the air.

Barca want a new midfielder, with Marco Verratti, Jean Michael Seri and Leon Goretzka all on their radar.

But at the forefront of their minds in a star signing, especially having lost Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain over the summer.

Barca officials consider it ‘very difficult’ to sign Coutinho in January, but are still hopeful a deal could be struck.

If Coutinho did move in January, he would be unavailable for the knockout stages of the Champions League having already represented Liverpool.
