Governor Ganduje Sacks Five Commission­ers

The governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, has approved the imposition of a dusk to dawn curfew in Bassa Local Government Area of the state, following the recurring attacks in Irigwe Chiefdom and neighbouri­ng areas around the Bassa - Vom - Jos South and Manchok, Kaduna State.

The curfew which is from 6pm to 6am daily is with immediate effect until further notice.

The governor has also directed a special military search and security enforcemen­t operation within the aforementi­oned areas.

In a statement signed by the Director of Press and Public Affairs, Samuel Emmanuel Nanle, Governor Lalong said the curfew will guarantee effective operation by the military and the safety of all law abiding citizens.

“All community leaders, village heads, ward heads, district heads and paramount rulers of all areas bordering Irigwe Chiefdom are directed to ensure strict compliance with the curfew order and other specific security measures that would be put in place, to guarantee the peace and security of the entire people of Bassa Local Government Area.

“The governor wishes to assure all law abiding citizens of the area that security operatives are under strict instructio­n to ensure appropriat­e military-civil relations in the enforcemen­t of all necessary security measures for the good of all. Citizens are therefore enjoined to cooperate with the security operatives and to volunteer all necessary informatio­n that will aid the effective conduct of this exercise and to guarantee a safety in the whole of Bassa Local Government Area,” the statement said.
