Police kill abductors of Imo businessme­n

Operatives of the Imo State Police Command killed three suspected kidnappers during a shoot-out and arrested others.

This was disclosed during the parade of some suspected kidnappers. The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Andrew Enwerem, quoted the state Commission­er of Police, Chris Ezike as saying that the latest effort by men of the Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) in Owerri, led to the killing of three notorious kidnappers, who abducted some prominent businessme­n in the state.

He warned that anti-social behaviours would no longer be allowed in the state.

It was gathered that the kidnappers on December 13, 2017, abducted one Chief Linus Anyaghara and his driver, Cosmi Mbachu and one Vitalis Ogohe and dispossess­ed them of a Toyota Sequoia jeep.

He said that the suspects, also on January 13, 2018, kidnapped one Obinwanne Agugum, who had just returned from South Africa and his driver, Chima.

The PPRO said that subsequent upon the orders given by Ezike, some of the suspects were arrested and they led the police to various hideouts and detention facilities.

Items recovered from the suspects include: one AK 47 rifle, one English pistol, two pump action guns and one black Prado Land Cruiser Jeep.

Other items recovered are; one Volkswagen Jetta car with Reg no EG NO SMK 677 EU, 26 rounds of live Beretta ammunition, 96 rounds of live AK 47 ammunition, two new AK 47 magazines fully loaded, N390, 000.00.and charms.
