BBOG urges intelligence report, whistleblowing rewards for B/Haram abductions
The BringBackOurGirls (BBOG) organization has advised the federal government to widely solicit intelligence reports and institute whistleblowing rewards for abductions by Boko Haram insurgents in the country.
A statement by the #BringBackOurGirls, Lagos Family, also suggested the establishment of missing persons’ register, publish names of those missing, provide counselling for traumatised students and their families.
The statement was signed on behalf of the Lagos Family by Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi, Aisha Oyebode, Ayo Obe, Olalere Babasola, F.T. Adebayo, Habiba Balogun and Ngozi Iwere. Others who endorsed it are Yemi Adamolekun, Yemisi RansomeKuti, Mojubàolú Olufúnké Okome and Deji Kolawole.
The body, which made the remarks after the abduction of students from Government Girls Science and Technical College, Dapchi, in Yobe State, also pointed out that urgent investigation be conducted and facts established on the incident.
They appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari and Yobe State Governor Ibrahim Gaidam to ensure that the girls are rescued. Besides, they reiterated their demand for the federal, state and local governments to work together to equip the police and armed forces so that they can respond swiftly to, and communicate adequately about security incidents.
