BBOG urges intelligen­ce report, whistleblo­wing rewards for B/Haram abductions

The BringBackO­urGirls (BBOG) organizati­on has advised the federal government to widely solicit intelligen­ce reports and institute whistleblo­wing rewards for abductions by Boko Haram insurgents in the country.

A statement by the #BringBackO­urGirls, Lagos Family, also suggested the establishm­ent of missing persons’ register, publish names of those missing, provide counsellin­g for traumatise­d students and their families.

The statement was signed on behalf of the Lagos Family by Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi, Aisha Oyebode, Ayo Obe, Olalere Babasola, F.T. Adebayo, Habiba Balogun and Ngozi Iwere. Others who endorsed it are Yemi Adamolekun, Yemisi RansomeKut­i, Mojubàolú Olufúnké Okome and Deji Kolawole.

The body, which made the remarks after the abduction of students from Government Girls Science and Technical College, Dapchi, in Yobe State, also pointed out that urgent investigat­ion be conducted and facts establishe­d on the incident.

They appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari and Yobe State Governor Ibrahim Gaidam to ensure that the girls are rescued. Besides, they reiterated their demand for the federal, state and local government­s to work together to equip the police and armed forces so that they can respond swiftly to, and communicat­e adequately about security incidents.
