…Looters’ list, a ploy to taint PDP before 2019 – Metuh
A former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Olisa Metuh, has said the allegation of looting made against him and some members of the party is a ploy to ensure that the PDP is tainted before the 2019 elections.
Metuh made the remarks yesterday in a statement he signed titled “FG List: My reply to the media trial.”
According to him, government’s determination to achieve the objective was clearly highlighted by the refusal to allow him attend to his deteriorating health notwithstanding several expert medical opinion on the matter.
He said the release of names of ‘looters’ by the APC-led Federal Government through the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, was a breach of the constitution, as it seeks to burden him with two criminal trials on the same charge.
Metuh said the trails were the one before Justice Okon Abang and the other before the media.
The former PDP publicity secretary said in view of what he described as “unprecedented executive rascality and lawlessness”, he had asked his lawyers to review the implications of the latest attack by the government and take appropriate steps for redress.
Metuh noted that the charge against him is that he received N400million from the Office of the National Security Adviser to carry out duties assigned to him as the then National Publicity Secretary of the PDP by then President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He said though neither President Jonathan nor Dasuki have been interrogated on the issues, officers of the office of the NSA have testified in court that the payment followed due process.
Metuh explained the present action of the government leaves him with no option than to defend his name and integrity.
