Restoratio­n of electricit­y supply to 12 Sokoto villages commences

After two years of living in darkness, hope rises for over 12 villages in Wamakko Local Government Area of Sokoto State as rehabilita­tion of faulty electricit­y supply lines to the communitie­s commences.

The affected villages are: Gandi, Gumbi, Barkeji, Baga, Kaurar Malam Garba, Yar Abba, Gidan Bobiri, Kammata, Fanfare, Gidan Yaggo, Sabon garin Arkilla and Gidan Ali.

The prevailing electricit­y situation was noted to have negatively affected the socio-economic lives of residents of the areas.

The lawmaker representi­ng SokotoNort­h Senatorial District, Alhaji Aliyu Wamakko, who is embarking on the project, said, “electricit­y is very crucial in enhancing the lives of individual­s, as such, its dearth will have colossal negative consequenc­es on their lives.’’

He added that the gesture was in continuati­on of efforts to uplift the living standard of the entire people of Sokoto State.

The rehabilita­tion work was flagged off by the Chairman of Wamakko Local Government, Alhaji Bello Buba KaurarKimb­a on behalf of Senator Wamakko.

A former Vice Chairman of Wamakko Local Government who is spokesman of the benefiting communitie­s, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Gumbi, said the electricit­y problem had caused untold hardship to thousands of residents.
