Mr. Fulani Kwarjafa is a former Commissioner of Police in Lagos State. He also headed the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA. I first came across the exploits of Kwarjafa, in an interview he granted one of the national dailies at the heat of the clamour for the abolition of Special Anti-robbery Squad, (SARS). It was in that interview that he narrated how God used him to set up the squad.

In another interview with the Nigerian Television Authority, which I had the opportunity of watching, I was able to know more about the man. From the interview he granted the dailies, I realized that Kwarjafa rose to the pinnacle of his career through the dint of hard work and patriotism. He rose from grass to grace. With ordinary primary school certificate, he joined the police and developed himself educationally and later rose from corporal to ASP, Chief Superintendent of Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police and finally Commissioner of Police. In the course of his service to the nation, he had auto crashes on three occasions. At another time, armed robbers invaded his house to punish him for his bravery, but God saved him on all occasions. Obviously, Kwarjafa served the nation patriotically and confessed that he never took bribe from anybody. In recognition of his service to the nation in various capacities, he was awarded the national honour, Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR).

The irony about Kwarjafa is that at 82, he is not getting the required attention from an organization he served meritoriously. He is currently suffering from an ailment which resulted from the accident he had while in service, but all his appeals for help have proved abortive.

I want to appeal to the Inspector General of Police to as a matter of urgency, come to his aid.
