PDP knocks Buhari, APC at rally

- From Habibu Umar Aminu, Katsina

The Peoples’ Democratic Party yesterday held its North- West rally in Katsina State, where it berated President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress Party (PDP) “for deceiving Nigerians over unfulfilled promises”.

The National Chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus, said all the campaign promises made by the APC are yet to be realised and that rather than work towards fulfilled them, the APC embarked on “intimidation and harassment of its members to hide its failure”.

He said the PDP as a party is not dead and that it is aware of a new conspiracy to arrest some of its leaders.

“PDP is not dead; we are alive. The APC chairman said we are dead but you can see from the multitude of party supporters here that the PDP is alive. We will bring unity to the country and stop the on-going killings and bring food for the people”, he said.

In his remarks, the former Katsina State governor, Ibrahim Shema, who was making his first public appearance since leaving office three years ago, challenged the present APC government in the state to publish the state account as at when he left office, maintaining that he left behind N14.5 billion.

He said following Saturday’s event, traditional rulers and opinion leaders should be on the look-out for new threats that he and his supporters would be subjected to.

The rally was attended by three serving PDP governors, Ibrahim Dakwambo, Ayodele Fayose and Udom Emmanuel.

Others present include Sule Lamido, Babangida Aliyu, Attahiru Bafarawa, Aminu Wali, Ibrahim Shekarau, Ahmed Makarfi, Buhari Bala, Barrister Kabir Tanimu, Sen Walid Jibrin, Ramalan Yero, among others.
