CAF Cup: Plateau United relishing USM Alger challenge – Saleh

Hamisu Saleh, the Plateau United of Jos versatile defender has said his teammates were relishing the surmountab­le challenge ahead of them when they play the second leg of CAF Confederat­ions Cup play-off against USM Alger in Algeria next Tuesday.

Saleh who spoke with Daily Trust on phone ahead of his club’s second leg clash with USM Alger at 12, 000 capacity Omar Hamadi Stadium in Algiers on Tuesday, also said the spirit of his teammates was high ahead of the clash.

Plateau United won the first leg 2-1 when the two side clashed at Agege Township Stadium in Lagos on 7 April, 2018 and now facing an enormous challenge to overcome the North African heavyweigh­t that have won Algerian Ligue Profession­elle seven times, Algerian Cup eight times and Algerian Super Cup two times.

The former Ajester Academy of Jos player also said they were aware of USM Alger’s home record but they would do everything humanly possible to shock them by handing them bitter defeat in Algiers.

The 23 year old utility player explained that the players of Plateau United would do everything possible to make the fans of the club happy by beating Reds and Blacks of Algiers.

“Our morale is high, and we aren’t under any pressure, I am satisfied with the level of our preparatio­n and playing the match in Algiers wouldn’t affect our performanc­e, we are fully equipped.

The defender added that the Tin city boys were not underratin­g Union Sportive de la médina d’Alger, (USM).
