Police arrest attackers of Bauchi musicians

Police in Bauchi State have arrested some persons who allegedly attacked and wounded political singers at a meeting a few days ago.

In a statement, the state police spokespers­on, DSP Kamal Datti Abubakar, said the suspects were arrested following a report at the GRA Police Station on April 18, 2018.

According to the statement, it was reported that some thugs armed with machetes and other dangerous weapons attacked an office in Re-insurance House building along Ahmadu Bello Way, Bauchi.

It added that as a result of the attack, five persons sustained machete cuts.

The statement added that after receiving the report, a combined team of police from the GRA Division and Federal Special AntiRobber­y Squad Bauchi (FSARS) swung into action and arrested the suspects.

The suspects arrested according to the police, include Alhaji Sunusi, the alleged gang leader, Musa Mohnammed, Ashiru Suleiman, Abubakar Bello and Usman Abubakar.

Others are; Jamilu Garba, Yusuf Dahiru aka Eminem, Abdulazeez Dabo and Kabiru Inuwa.

According to the police, exhibits found with the suspects are; four cutlasses, one long knife and dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

“All the suspects voluntaril­y confessed to have participat­ed in the attack and were all charged to court. “The command calls on the general public to cooperate with police in its fight against crime and criminalit­y in the state and report any suspicious person or object to the nearest station”, the statement added.
