Report of APC faction in Yobe ‘absolute nonsense’ - Rep Goni

- From Hamisu Kabir Matazu, Damaturu

A member of the House of Representatives, representing Bursari, Gaidam and Yunusari federal constituency of Yobe State, Goni Bukar Lawan, has dismissed an online report claiming that federal lawmakers from the state have created an APC faction to protest the outcome of the party congresses.

A statement the lawmaker signed and e-mailed to Daily Trust on Sunday, said he was constrained to issue clarification mainly for the sake Nigerians outside Yobe State, who could be misled by the report.

“First of all, it is known to everyone conversant with Yobe politics that I have been and will remain 100 per cent loyal to our leader, Governor Ibrahim Gaidam. It is also known to everyone that I was prominently involved in all the APC congresses in Yobe from the ward, local government to the state congress and the entire stakeholders of the APC in Yobe State, including myself, were in approval of the congresses which were free, fair and credible.

“Governor Gaidam has always carried every true stakeholder of the APC along through a well-organized and firm leadership that instils discipline. The report about me or indeed anyone leading a so called faction of APC in Yobe State is absolute nonsense and should be disregarded in its entirety.

“If there was APC faction in Yobe State, the situation would have been glaring enough for all to see. In politics, factions are created to register protests and as it is known, protests are not usually done in silence. There cannot be an APC faction and the faction will be hidden or faceless. There has never been a faction in the Yobe APC not even in the days of the ANPP.

“In Yobe State, we do things collectively as a family. Whoever does anything contrary normally leaves us to another party because we are a family with one undivided voice in Yobe State. Governor Gaidam is the leader of that family and we have more than 100 per cent trust in him and his style of leading our political family in Yobe State. Some mischief makers are probably frustrated with APC’s full control of Yobe and they want to cause internal problems but they have failed. We have survived far more dangerous mischief not to talk of this cheap and elementary one,” Rep. Goni said.

The lawmaker called on APC members and supporters to continue to support Governor Gaidam in his efforts at developing the state.
