- By Nurudeen Oyewole, Lagos

A Non-Governmental Organisation, Nero Asibelua Foundation has donated copies of an art book, ‘Collecting Art: A Handbook’ to different higher institutions of learning across the country.

At the formal distribution of the books in Lagos, the Foundation Chairman, Nero Asibelua said the motivation for donating the books is aimed at spreading art knowledge across different institutions of higher learning.

“The donation is Nero Asibuela Foundation’s contribution to the knowledge of art appreciation in Nigeria. It is written by Fabian Ajogwu and Hess Castellote. This is a rich book for all. As a foundation, we want to donate knowledge to Nigerian universities and other institutions of higher learning. This is just a ceremonial activity. We will distribute the books to as many schools as possible.

“For us, this is part of our contribution to make Nigeria great. We believe there are lots of good things about the country and we must do our bit to tell the good stories and contribute our quota to make the country greater than it is,” Asibuela said.

The event, which was held in partnership with the Quintessence Gallery, witnessed the attendance of representatives of the Federal College of Education (Technical, Akoka); Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Lagos and University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), Rivers State, among others. Speakers at the event were: Prof Ebun Clark, Dr Kunle Filani, Prof Frank Ugiomoh and the authors of the book.
