UNICEF Charity Shield Polo: Kaduna State govt lauds Access Bank, 5th Chukker partnershi­p

Kaduna State Government has lauded Access Bank Plc and its partner, Fifth Chukker Polo & Country Polo Club for its leading campaign to alleviate the plights of vulnerable and orphaned children in the state.

Wife of Kaduna State Governor, Hajia Aisha Ummi El-Rufai who was the Special Guest of Honour at the Children day event in the ongoing Access Bank UNICEF Charity Shield Polo Tournament in Kaduna, appreciate­d the partners for using the Charity Shield polo platform to enhance the educationa­l and health well-being in a most special way.

“There is an important need for both private and public sectors to do a lot more in support of the Nigerian child, particular­ly the orphans and vulnerable children to enable them look forward to a better tomorrow,” the Kaduna State First Lady added.

The Children Day event which remains the biggest highlight yet at the ongoing internatio­nal polo fiesta, has received high profile accolades as an occasion that enables children to cherish their buoyant freedom and rekindle their childhood and the potentials within them.

Hundreds of school pupils and their teachers spent the whole day at the foremost Fifth Chukker Polo & Country Club in Kaduna, engaging in various sporting activities, drawing and paintings.

Hajia Aisha Ummi El-Rufai and the exciting children rounded up the day cheering up Team Agad defeat Team STL 10-71/2, in their second group game of the Access Bank Cup that pitched three highly ambitious teams this year.

Agad Team that had earlier lost their opening match to kangimi A-Plus, became the first team to be eliminated from the internatio­nal polo tourney that offers three glittering prizes to the eventual winners.

Team Kings Game galloped off their UNICEF Cup campaign on a positive note, edging out Team Dattaku 5=21/2, just as Team Nadabo Farms keep their UNICEF Cup hopes alive with a slim 5=41/2 win over Team Tilla Farm.

Revered as one of the biggest polo fund raising platform in Africa, which is in its eleventh year of Access Bank exclusive sponsorshi­p, has so far raised more than N100 million for UNICEF in support for projects aim at alleviatin­g the plights of the underprivi­leged children in Kaduna State and its environs.

The grand finale 2018 edition of the premium polo extravagan­za that was inaugurate­d in 2003 is billed to climax today (Sunday) at the foremost Kangimi Resort with Emir of Kano HRH Lamido Sanusi (II) the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and several notable personalit­ies in attendance.
