She Hypnotised Me, Chopped Off My Manhood

- From Aliyu M. Hamagam, Dutse

Life will never be the same for Mallam Abdullahi Sabo, whose manhood was chopped off by his fiancée, Ramlatu Tafida. Ramlatu allegedly attacked Abdullahi for jilting her after four years of courtship.

The duo, who hail from Babura town of Babura Local Government Area of Jigawa State, were said to have been so deeply in love with each other that they hardly stayed away from each other. The relationship, which waxed stronger by the day, led them to pre-marital sex, almost on a daily basis.

The 17-year-old Tafida was a student of Government Girls’ Arabic Secondary School, Babura, where her fiancé also works as a teacher. Sabo, 25, was said to have formally proposed to Tafida as custom demands by paying the sum of N30,000 to her family.

It was learnt that having been fully convinced that the relationship would blossom to marriage, Tafida could not resist sexual advances from her lover, and since then, the pre-marital sex affair became a recurrent decimal.

Barely three weeks to consummate the relationship into marriage, everything went awry. Rumour started making the round that Sabo was planning to dump her, saying that if she could allow him to have sex with her, it means that she must have been having same affair with others.

As Tafida wondered what to do next, Sabo called her on phone, seeking audience with her in an uncompleted building. At the venue, she was said to have confronted him with the allegation that he planned to dump her. He confirmed it, saying he was not ready to rescind his decision.

Our reporter gathered that Tafida chopped off Abdullahi’s manhood while he attempted to have sex with her in the uncompleted building. Consequently, he raised the alarm, which attracted the attention of some youths, mostly his friends. The aggrieved youths went after her, but the timely intervention the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) saved her from being lynched.

When Daily Trust on Sunday visited Sabo at the Mallam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano, where he was rushed to, he denied having any sexual relationship with her. He also denied the allegation that she chopped off his manhood because he wanted to dump her. He insisted that he had never had carnal knowledge of her.

Sabo said he decided to quit the relationship because of her character, which he described as not suitable for a wife. He said that whenever she was aggrieved, nobody would be able to calm her down, including her parents. He further alleged that Tafida could not keep friends because it’s difficult for her to stay with anybody under one roof without fighting him or her. He said that after making it clear to her that he had decided to quit the relationship, she refused to let go.

He further accused her of being diabolic, saying that at a point she hypnotised him and he did everything she told him to do. He said that it was under such circumstance that she commended him to go into an uncompleted building, after which he saw himself in the hospital. He added that he could not remember what transpired between them.

According to Sabo, it was when he regained consciousness while coming out of the surgery theatre that he noticed that he had lost his manhood.

He, however, said the doctors told him that his case was not hopeless as it could be remedied in Egypt or India. He said he was yet to be told of the possible cost of the treatment in either of the two countries.

“I don’t commit adultery; all that was said in respect of the calamity that befell me was not true. Those who know me better can testify to that. Engaging in social vices has never been part of my character.

“My sin is that I am quitting my relationship with Ramlatu. I can’t explain why she did this to me. I am now a man without manhood. It has been completely cut off.

“I am appealing to the general public to come to my aid. I am appealing to the well-to-do in the society to come to my rescue. Although I don’t know how much the treatment will cost presently, it is not too early to start appealing for assistance. I am only a teacher under the N-Power programme,’’ he said.

Speaking to journalists, Tafida said they had been into the relationship for some years, and her ‘boyfriend,’ who proposed to her last year, loved her dearly.

She said the day for their wedding had since been fixed by the end of this August, but to her astonishment, she started hearing some news around the town that her proposed husband was no longer interested in her, simply because he had sex with her on several occasions. She said that whenever she reminded him that people were watching them, he would say he didn’t care because they would soon get married.

It was said that having been aggrieved when she heard that Sabo was planning to dump her, she concealed a knife under her veil when she went to answer his call in the uncompleted building. According to the report, as he undressed in preparation to having sex with her, she grabbed his manhood immediately and chopped it off from the bottom.

“I heard from some of his friends that he wanted to abandon me because he couldn’t trust me any longer. They said that since I could have sex with him, I would have been having similar affair with others. I heard that he had since gotten another girl to marry.

“After his decision to drop me he still wants to have sex with me. When he called me on phone about 7pm on that fateful day, telling me where to meet him, I knew what he was up to, so I went to him with my knife, hidden under my veil. When I got there I did not hesitate to carry out my plan,’’ she said.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa command, SC Adamu Shehu, confirmed the incident, saying the suspect has been arraigned before a juvenile court in Dutse, the state capital.
