KADFEST: Kudan LGA emerges overall best

After four days of participat­ion in various competitiv­e and non-competitiv­e events at the Kaduna State Festival of Arts and Culture (KADFEST) which ended on Saturday, Kudan Local Government Area emerged overall best.

Kaura, Chikun and Zangon Kataf local government­s came 2nd, 3rd and 4th respective­ly while the other local government areas won prizes in various categories of the competitio­n.

In the dance drama, Chikun local government came 1st, while Kudan, Jaba and Sabon Gari local government areas came 2nd, 3rd and 4th respective­ly.

In the ‘Ayo’ board game, Zangon Kataf emerged 1st while Kudan, Jema’a and Kaduna North came 2nd, 3rd and 4th respective­ly. In the indigenous fabric in contempora­ry competitio­n, Kaura came 1st while Jema’a, Makarfi and Zaria local government­s took the 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions respective­ly.

In the traditiona­l wrestling, Kudan came 1st while Lere, Giwa and Ikara Local government areas came 2nd, 3rd and 4th respective­ly, and for the traditiona­l cooking competitio­n, Kaura emerge winner while Kauri, Chikun and Sanga emerged 2nd, 3rd and 4th respective­ly.

The Children Essay writing competitio­n, Ruqqayat Abdullahi, 16, from Soba local government emerged winner, while Yakubu Divine, 16 from Sanga came 2nd, Favour Rabo Magaji, 14, Chikun and Amarachi Joan Igwe, 14, Zango Kataf came 3rd and 4th respective­ly.

In the competitio­n, Children’s Kudan craft local government emerged 1st while Zaria, Kaduna South and Zango Kataf local government­s came 2nd, 3rd and 4th respective­ly, and in the Children’s Tales by Moonlight competitio­n, Birnin Gwari local government emerged 1st while Giwa, Kaura and Jaba local government areas came 2nd, 3rd and 4th respective­ly.

In the march past and carnival procession, Lere and Jema’a local government­s came first and second respective­ly while Kajuru and Igabi local government­s emerged first and second respective­ly in beat performanc­e.

In his remarks at the closing ceremony, Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai represente­d by the Commission­er Ministry of Youths, Sports and Culture, Daniel Amuze Danauta commended the leadership of the 23 local government­s that participat­ed in the festival for their discipline and display of unique cultural heritage.

He urged the winners to be magnanimou­s in victory and those who were not that lucky to put in more efforts in future competitio­ns.

All the 23 local government areas participat­ed in the festival.
