Kano 2018 Polo: All Eyes on Emir of Kano, Dantata

The battle for top polo honours is raging in the commercial city of Kano as the 2018 polo tournament­s, head to flourishin­g finale in the ancient Kingdom this week starting from Thursday, September 20, 2018.

Host Kano that provided the highest numbers of teams in the first stage that climax with fanfare today, (Sunday) are putting all their eggs in one basket as Kano BUA leads two other super charge teams in their quest for the Dantata Cup.

The other heavily fortified home teams include former champions, Kano Nakudu and Kano Bompai. The trio is battle ready for what promises to be an all. Kano teams firestorm in the Dantata Cup this year.

The race for the highly revered Emir of Kano Cup will see host sitting out the winners-takes-all games they are defending champions, thanks to Kano Lintex victory last year.

Expect a brand new champion and winner of the Emir of Kano Cup this year, as Lagos STL, Kaduna Trappco Ranch and a debutant, Sixty Yards team from Kaduna, have all thrown their hats into the pitch, in what promises to one of the most contested high -goal cup games in history of the internatio­nal polo fiesta.

Revered as one of the most wanted polo crowns in the continent, the Emir of Kano Cup that has been contested for as the biggest prize of the tournament since inception, pitch arch rivals in a battle royale that would ultimately crown the champions of 2018 Kano internatio­nal polo festival.

Subsidiary cups lined up for grabs in the second and final stage of the exciting 2018 Kano polo festival include Usman Dantata Cup, Sir Muhammadu Sanusi Cup, the Governor’s Cup and the glittering Emir of Kano Cup whose final will draw the curtain on the prestigiou­s polo extravagan­za.

Kano Polo Club Chairman, Bashir Dantata who has vied for the cup on many occasions, believes the team with the least number of mistakes, stand a chance of lifting the cup that is decided over six explosive chukkas in the presence of the Emir, Lamido Sanusi at the legendary Usman Dantata Polo Ground.

“High goal cups like the Emir of Kano Cup and the Dantata Cup require good organizati­on, an excellence team chemistry and good string of ponies to venture into. While all these may help your chances of winning, hard work and your concentrat­ion on the pitch will ultimately count at the end of the day.” “I wish the eventual winners all the luck,” he declares.
