How Flomat FC, Blessed Unity Queens emerged FCT FA league Champions

Flomat FC and Blessed Unity Angels have emerged champions of 2018 FCT FA Men and Women Football league respective­ly. Ikenna Ofor’s 15th minute strike earned his team the much needed three points to pip Waco FC 1-0 to end the league with 22 points and crowned 2018 FCT Football league Champion.

Fosla FC of Karishi finished as the runners-up of the Men’s league having played 9 games, won 6, drew 2 and lost 1. The young but talented team scored 26, conceded 6 goals and finished the league with 20 points.

It will be noted here that the Champions, Flomat FC won 7, drew 1 and lost 1 in league games. The Garki based team topped the league table with 22 points to emerge overall winner.

In the women’s league, Blessing Bridget Ufuoma’s late goal confirmed Blessed Unity Angels superiorit­y over Beautiful Tours Angel in the epic final at the Area 3 Playing ground.

Blessed Angels had beaten Josiah Queens 4-0, walloped Emmanuel Queens 7-0 on their road to final.

Flomat FC on the other hand, pipped FOSLA FC 1-0, defeated Basic Maracana 2-0 in the FCT FA Super 4 league before the final match on Friday.

With the win, Flomat FC will represent FCT in the Nigeria Nationwide League Division 3 next year.

FCT FA Chairman, Alh Musa Talle thanked the Director of FCT Sports Department, Chief Mrs Dilichikwu Onyendinma for her supports and efforts in developing grassroots sports in the nation’s capital.

Speaking on behalf of the team, Chris Johnson (Coach) said, “I’m extremely excited with my team performanc­e but it was a tough game” he said.

According to FCT Sports Director, Chief Dilichukwu Onyedinma, while briefing Journalist­s, “I’m proud the league ended this way, because we’re trying to be gender sensitive since it has been male tournament, but it’s nice the female teams has come to stay”.

She added, we look forward to improve this developmen­t as you all know, “Football is always ringing bells than any other Sports” she said.

The FCT league chairman, Alhaji. Musa Tally emphasized, “I’ve pledge support for the winners, but the conduct of the player’s is very paramount. Hopefully, we intend to expand this competitio­n next year as we will like to address challenges and complains from the teams” he added.

In his own submission, the CEO of Flolat FC, Olushola Omole, told newsmen, “I’m so glad we won but never taught we could come this far, because they keep impressing us, so I decided to motivate them more.

“Our aim is to give hope to the hopeless and ensure the player’s dreams come through since almost all of them are from the streets in order for them to have a better future” Omole concluded.
