Polls: Tinubu Assures Buhari of Lagos Victory

- From Nurudeen Oyewole, Lagos

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured President Muhammadu Buhari of winning Lagos State in the forthcoming presidential election.

Tinubu, who is also a former governor of the state was among the speakers at the APC Lagos State mega rally organised for the re-election campaign of the President and his Vice, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.

The former governor also used the occasion to take a swipe at former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who has been critical of President Buhari’s administration, describing him as “an expired milk and greatest election rigger”.

“Today is for celebration of democracy. It is not just about the campaign of Buhari. Lagos is sure. Lagos is sure. Sure, voting APC! It’s a broom revolution, Mr President. When you came in 2015, you didn’t engage in smooth promises but you have delivered on things you didn’t even promise,” Tinubu said.

Tinubu also berated the economic proposals of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) economic proposals while at the same time accusing them of sabotaging the nation’s economy and driving the investors and major manufacturers away while in power.

“When Obasanjo came, we said we wanted to have Independent Power Project in Badagry, when I was the Lagos State Governor, they said No. We took them to court. Osinbajo was my lawyer and we defeated them and we built the first ever 300Megawatz power project by a state government. If Nigeria has made dedicated investment in infrastructures, Dunlop won’t have gone away, Michelin will not have packed out among others,” Tinubu said.

The Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode said the February 16 election was not about tribe or religion, but strictly about job creation, infrastructural development and economic growth, saying President Buhari has shown total commitment to making life comfortable for residents.

The Vice President on the other hand assured that if President Buhari is re-elected, he would focus more attention on power supply, job creation and road and railway construction across the country.

President Bubari in a brief remark, said he would not be saying more than what earlier speakers had said, but was quick to add that the country has made tremendous progress under his administration.
