US-based doctor donates health facility to Benue community
The Founder of Tanimu Foundation and a medical practitioner based in United States of America (USA), Prof. Sabo Tanimu, has donated a health facility to the North Bank community in Makurdi metropolis of Benue State.
Tanimu’s philanthropic organisation has not relented in impacting positively on the North bank community over the years in its variety of human development aimed at making life more meaningful for the less privileged.
Daily Trust on Sunday reports that last year, the medical practitioner donated an ultra-modern public library to the same community among many other humanitarian gestures to the people of the area cutting across religious or ethnic divides.
Tanimu at the commissioning of the Foundation’s latest project “Tanimu Foundation Diagnostic Centre” in Makurdi, said he would continue to positively change the landscape of the communities in Benue State and Nigeria as a whole.
He said the diagnostic centre has up-to-date ultrasound capabilities to support the health of pregnant women and others in the community with services including diagnostic abdominal and pelvic ultrasound provided by competent ultrasonographers.
According to him, the donation of the facility followed a formal request for a health centre by the community which he obliged and urged them to sustain the project as a collective responsibility to ensure the safety of patients and staff in the environment.
In a remark, the chairman of the occasion, a Consultant Radiologist with the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) in Makurdi, Dr Hameed Mohammed, opined that Tanimu’s philanthropy was unbelievable and recalled that Tanimu had donated at least 100 books to his department and medical equipment to the BSUTH as well as Federal Medical Centre in Makurdi last year.
