- From Ahmed Tahir Ajobe, Minna

The Nomadic education in Hamdallahi, a predominantly Fulani pastoralist community in Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State, has received a boost following the construction of a block of three classrooms by the Niger State Community and Social Development Project (CSDP).

CSDP is a World Bank assisted Development Project that supports the provision of social infrastructural facilities to the rural poor in the country.

Ardo Ahmed Ibrahim Modibbo told newsmen on Saturday during an inspection of facilities in the community by the CSDP team that the Agency also constructed Community Hall and a Health care centre in addition to the school project in the area.

According to him, CSDP provided the fund and technical support, while members of the community carried out the projects through project management committee.

He said the classrooms project also included furniture and toilets, adding that the initiative has triggered increase in enrollment by children even from neighbouring communities.

Modibbo noted that the healthcare centre initiative also included medical facilities, adding that the centre was made up of a male and female wards, pharmacy, medical staff section and maternity.

Daily Trust on Sunday reports that CSDP also renovated a 3-classrooms block at the Leprosy Colony in Paikoro Local Government Area in addition to furniture and toilet facilities.

The Sarkin Kutare, Malam Umar said CSDP also empowered members of the colony with the provision of tricycles to enhance their socioeconomic status and also provide water to the settlement and school.

Mrs Elizabeth Shaba, a Board member of CSDP, commended the community management project committee of Hamdallahi and Kompani Kutare for ensuring diligence in the handling of various projects in their areas.
