Why Rohr doesn’t invite home-based players – Inyama
The Chairman Abia Warriors Football Club Pastor Emeka Inyama has stated that it will be difficult for Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr to invite Nigeria Professional Football League players because the players always seek to move to Europe.
He made this known during a virtual interview with journalists on a sports Whatsapp group,
Family United By Football (FUBF).
Inyama, former chairman of the Nigeria National League said “The players have a mindset alre ady, that the gateway to stardom is playing outside here (Nigeria); it’s so unfortunate and that mentality must stop.
He noted that amateur players worry their families to sell land to give to agents who ferry them abroad. It’s a shame,” he said.
He further suggested that exposing these players periodically via friendly matches will go a long way.
“Let’s have a coach for homebased players who should be doing periodic camping and exposing them to friendlies both at home and abroad. Then Rohr will have a pool to give the opportunity. Create the right atmosphere and give them the confidence,” he said.
He further condemned hooliganism in football while advocating for stiff and tough sanctions against any individual or fans that stir violence at various football centres.
“The only way to curb hooliganism is to be firm and tough with our punishment. No two ways about it. It starts with getting clubs to pay severe penalties and that will stop.
“However, good officiating is the solution to abating hooliganism,” he said
