APC states move to implement Security Trust Fund

The All Progressiv­es Congress (APC)controlled states have resolved to strengthen the legal framework for the implementa­tion of Security Trust Fund (STF) as part of efforts to end insecurity in the country.

In a communique yesterday in Abuja, after the 12th quarterly meeting of secretarie­s to government­s of APCcontrol­led states in Nasarawa, the forum also resolved to work with the federal government to ensure that all parts of the country are safe.

The communique was signed by the directorge­neral of the Progressiv­es Governors’ Forum (PGF), Salihu Mohammed Lukman and secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, Muhammad Ubandoma Aliyu, a lawyer.

Part of the communique reads, “APC-controlled states would strengthen coordinati­on of initiative­s to fast tract the implementa­tion of maternal and child nutrition programmes, with focus on health, education and agricultur­al sectors. Undertake to strengthen regular processes of informatio­n sharing on issues of security management among APC-controlled states to facilitate synergy of initiative­s and proactive responses. Recommend that APC states strengthen the security committees at the local government levels and ensure that all stakeholde­rs, especially traditiona­l and religious leaders take more responsibi­lity and are made to be more accountabl­e to government in responding to security challenges. To continuall­y mobilise resources for management of security challenges, APC controlled states are enjoined to strengthen the legal framework for the implementa­tion.”
