FG commits to better lives for IDPs
The Federal Commissioner of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim has stated the readiness of the commission to better the lives of displaced persons in Borno State.
Hajiya Imaan who made this known during a three-day working visit to the state assured the displaced persons of the preparedness of the commission to work with relevant stakeholders in supporting them with basic needs until they were resettled into their homes.
She also paid a courtesy call on the
Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum and the Shehu of Borno Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar El-Kanemi.
Hajiya Imaan said the commission would work with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development to come up with a durable and sustainable plan of inclusiveness of vulnerable persons.
The commissioner in a statement, said it also distributed care packages of food and essential items to over 450 households when she visited the Al-Miskin IDP camp and Mohammadu Buhari host community in Maiduguri alongside some staff of the Borno
State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).
She also took a tour of the commission’s ongoing project of the Amarwa resettlement city, North-East Development Commission (NEDC) resettlement housing units in Kaleri and Ngom.
The Borno state governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum who was represented by his deputy, Alhaji Umar Usman Kadafur, and the Shehu of Borno Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar El-Kanemi separately commended the federal commissioner and restated their support in ensuring the success of the commission.
