Always appreciate what you have – Dr Fatima Mahmood Jibirilla Mubi

-

because they always say I look like a medical doctor and that made me feel great. But God had it his way and I was selected as the head girl of the school. Up to date, I’m not sure what other profession I could have chosen, but I thank God for answering my prayers.

Life and career challenges

Personally, I like to think that I am very fortunate because

I’ve had everything in my life go smoothly. I will not say I’ve faced many challenges and this is because in whatever situation I find myself in, I’m always content.

Fond Childhood Memories

What is meant for you will be yours no matter where you are and with focus and determination you will definitely achieve your goals. Also, learn to appreciate what you have, be contented. Whatever it is, the more you appreciate it, the more it turns out a blessing for you

I think it was being together with my whole family. I miss the excitement that came with doing things together, especially eating together with my siblings and dad which was one of the practices that bond us together as a family. Now everyone is married so we don’t get to have such moments again. Motherhood Joys

I’d say I’m really grateful for the joys of motherhood. I recall the days I was ill due to pregnancy and all that gave me comfort was the joy of knowing I’d soon give birth to a child of my own. Also, having to watch my children grow up has been a blessing and I’m glad I’ve been able to create a good relationship with my children. I always give them a listening ear when it’s needed so they can see me as a reliable mother.

Most cherished Gift

My most cherished gift is from God and that’s my husband. I find in him a friend, a brother and a confidante. He is my number one ally and I rely on him for all my decisions. Alhamdulillah, I have four lovely children with him, 2 boys and 2 girls.

Favourite kind of music on replay

I love listening to Jazz and my favourite Jazz composer is Yanni, though, I appreciate others like Kenny G, Grover Washington, Najee and our own Nigerian Yemi Sax.

Favourite fashion items

I love bags. I have many handbags.

How do you relax

For me, nothing beats watching a movie in a quiet environment with a cold glass of coke beside me.

Best travel destination

I love to travel and I travel a lot. In most cases the destinations do not matter to me, I just enjoy travelling so I’m always on it. However, if asked of my frequent places for vacation, I’d say the US, the U.K. and Dubai.

Favourite Designer (bags, shoe, perfume)

Russell &Bromley is my favourite, I also love Gucci bags a lot. For perfumes, I’d say Channel No 5 and the Creed collection.

Favourite Sport Weather, and Colour

I like bicycle races, I do them with my children at home. I don’t have a favourite colour; I think all colours are beautiful depending on how and where it is applied. I prefer cold weather to hot one.

Mum’s advice that stuck with you

Fear God and be patient at all times. Favourite day of the week

I’d say Saturday and that’s because I know I do not have any office work and the kids wouldn’t be going to school. It thrills me to know that I will get to spend quality time with them.

Favourite book

Although I barely read novels, one book that got my attention was the story of Dr Henderson. I liked the book because it told the story of a medical doctor who started as a dull child, had failed several times in school and was told by his peers that he wouldn’t make it. After listening to the advice of one of his schoolmates, he began to read more and became dedicated to achieving his goals. I find the story to be a piece of encouragement and inspiration for me.

Beauty routine

I don’t put on much makeup, but I do visit the salon and spa twice a month to take care of my body.
