Kangimi Resort, Nigerian Army win Kaduna polo tourney opening week

Kangimi Resort team and the Nigerian Army team have emerged winners in the opening week of the ongoing 2023 Kaduna Internatio­nal Polo Tournament that enters its grand finale today (Sunday) at the Murtala Square.

Kangimi Resort defeated EL-Amin in a tense final to clinch their first ever First Banksponso­red Georgian Cup title while Nigerian Army warriors edged debutants, Armis team in closely fought final, to retain the glittering EL-Amin Cup for the second year running.

Three teams, Dokaji Farms, Katsina AFDIN Petroleum team and Abuja Rubicon (2) are locked in a three-way chase for the Emir of Katsina Cup, just as a crowded field of fourteen teams are rumbling for the Imani Cup title.

Kano Polo Club President, Mohammad Babangida said the contest for the major prizes in the grand finale week promises to be the most competitiv­e and the most exciting in years while hailing the sponsors and partners of Kaduna Polo Club for their commitment in promoting the noble game of polo in the country.
