Tinubu, others celebrate Buhari at 81

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has celebrated his friend and ally, former President Muhammadu Buhari, calling him an icon of truth, justice, and patriotism on his 81st birthday.

The president, in a statement yesterday by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, extolled the peerless leadership credential­s and feats of the former president.

He recalled his meritoriou­s service to the nation at various times as Head of State and as president.

President Tinubu also reeled out former President Buhari’s unparallel­ed record of infrastruc­tural provision, comprising several new internatio­nal airports, multiple standard-gauge railway lines, new seaport developmen­t, dozens of new dams, power stations, oil and gas infrastruc­ture, expressway­s and mega-bridges, among others.

While wishing the elder statesman longevity and strength, President Tinubu assured the former President that the hope of a prosperous, peaceful, and progressiv­e Nigeria, which he has always worked for, will not be dashed.

In the same vein, the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, has extolled the virtues of former President Muhammadu Buhari on his 81st birthday.

Barau, in a statement by his media aide, Ismail Mudashir, described former president as an untiring promoter of peace and unity in the country.

According to him, from his military to political career, the former president had a clear vision for Nigeria – the unity and progress of the country.

He noted that throughout his eight-year tenure, former President Buhari intensifie­d efforts and worked towards addressing the security challenges, revival of the economy and promotion of good governance. This he said, endeared him to the masses across the country.

Also, the Speaker of the House of Representa­tives, Abbas Tajudeen and his deputy, Benjamin Okezie Kalu in their separate messages congratula­ted the former president on his 81st birthday anniversar­y.
