Nasarawa Poly suspends 7 students for displaying ‘immoral pictures’ on social media
Isah Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic (IMAP), has suspended seven students of the institution for allegedly displaying immoral pictures on social media during their graduation celebration in the institution.
The Public Relation Officer of the institution, Mr Ali Hassan Mohammed said in a statement that the affected students who had already been communicated to are to resume in 2023/2024 academic session with letters of undertaking to be of good behaviour from their guardians or parents to serve as deterrent to others.
“It would be recalled that recently seven female Students of the Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic, Lafia, were alleged to have celebrated their graduation by displaying immoral pictures on social media portraying the Institution in bad light in the name of after graduation sign out,” the statement reads.
It further reads: “The Academic Board of the institution has approved the rustication of the said seven students for one academic session at its meeting of Wednesday, October 4, 2023, held at the Institution for their involvement in display of indecency and tarnishing the good reputation of the Institution.The rustication for one academic session was contained in a circular issued on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 signed by the Polytechnic Registrar, Mr Zamani Habu
Ibrahim.”
Those affected were Precious Sunday, Dorathy Iortyer, Sonia Terna, Maureen Nenmo, Maureen Shitile, Atov Hope Yandoo and Joyce Aonrnenge Lembar.
Reacting to the ugly development, the Rector of the Polytechnic Dr Justina Anjiode Kotso, warned all the students to shun any form of social vices and anything capable of putting them into trouble, saying, the management would not compromise standards and academic excellence in the Polytechnic.
She, however, urged them to be dedicated to their studies and be disciplined as the Institution has no breathing space for indecency and other heinous crimes.
