IGP Egbetokun hails police polo team prowess

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has hailed the Nigerian Police polo team for being worthy ambassador­s of the Force at the just concluded 2023 Abuja Carnival Polo Tournament.

It will be noted that the Police team, Abuja Rubicon and the Nigerian Army led others to emerge top winners of the fiesta.

Police IGP who lauded the team for their discipline and sportsmans­hip during the event that attracted over 30 teams from across the country, congratula­ted the team for finishing tops in the race for the FCT Minister’s Cup over ten tough opposition­s.

IGP Egbetokun who was the Special Guest of Honour at the finals of the prestigiou­s polo festival that saw Rubicon and Malcomines finishing winners and runners-up respective­ly in the President Cup race, insisted that the participat­ion of the Police team in the event goes far beyond winning laurels

Egbetokun who was represente­d by the Commission­er of Police in charge of the Police mobile Force, Deinma Abibo, the Police Force participat­ion in the tournament alongside the Military and Civilians has instilled the spirit of unity and national cohesion amongst the various forces as well the public.

“First and foremost, sports keep us physically fit, and mentally alert. “It also creates room for interagenc­y relationsh­ips, collaborat­ion, and synergy.” The IGP declared.

“So, against that backdrop, it helps us to promote unity amongst sister agencies. “Outside that, it also creates a forum for community policing with members of the public,” he added.
