Ahmed Musa applauds NPFL progress, calls for more private investment

In a captivatin­g Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday 16 game between Kano Pillars and Kwara United at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Super Eagles’ captain Ahmed Musa expressed his elation at the electrifyi­ng atmosphere and commended the league’s recent strides.

In a halftime interview with league broadcaste­rs, Musa lauded the league’s governing body for the progress in coverage but emphasized the need for continued enhancemen­t.

“We need more developmen­t in coverage to elevate our league further,” he stated, highlighti­ng the

importance of improving visibility and exposure for Nigerian football domestical­ly.

Witnessing a gripping encounter between Kano Pillars and Kwara United, Musa praised the latter for their impressive performanc­e, acknowledg­ing the

competitiv­e nature of the game and expressing optimism for the league’s continued advancemen­t.

Speaking on the league’s growth, Musa advocated for increased private sector involvemen­t, stressing that private investment is pivotal for the league’s developmen­t.

“The government alone cannot sustainabl­y support the league, and we need more private sector investment,” he affirmed, underscori­ng the necessity of diversifyi­ng funding sources for the sport’s growth.

The seasoned footballer also took note of emerging talents like Kano Pillars five-goal hero Yusuf Abdullahi, drawing parallels between his own beginnings and the promising future he sees for Nigerian football.

“I started just like him during my time here at Kano Pillars. I wish him the best of luck; it’s a bright future for Nigeria,” Musa expressed with optimism for the budding talent.
