Tension in Kaduna community as bandits execute 4 captives

There was pandemoniu­m in Dnata chiefdom under Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Saturday morning, following the execution of four captives by their kidnappers within the community.

Dnata chiefdom has its headquarte­rs in Tafa town, located along the AbujaKadun­a expressway in the area council.

A community leader in the area, John Alpha Dogo, told Daily Trust on Sunday that the bandits dragged

Atheir four captives - three females and one male, to a location around a former military checkpoint behind Idah Junction of the BwariJere SCC Road, before killing them.

He said the incident took place at about 11pm Friday night, when gunshots were heard around the location, but mistaken for the security patrol team. “It was this morning that we came to discover the incident,” Dogo added.

He said residents of two communitie­s - Bagye and Pashin in the chiefdom, are leaving in droves towards ctivities of the Road Transport Employers Associatio­n of Nigeria (RTEAN) in all motor parks in Lagos State have resumed with immediate effect.

Daily Trust on Sunday reports that the activities of the union were halted by the state government in September 2022.

Briefing journalist­s yesterday in Abuja, Comrade Yusuf Ibrahim Adeniyi, Secretary General of RTEAN, said a peaceful resolution was reached by the

Bwari town following devastatio­n brought by the incident.

It was suspected that the bandits brought out the victims from their camp around the axis, over a failed ransom negotiatio­n, as disclosed by one of the interviewe­d residents.

Daily Trust on Sunday further learnt that the police from Tafa Division have conveyed the remains of the victims to a nearby hospital around the community.

The chief of Dnata, Bitrus James, confirmed the incident but the police are yet to react to the developmen­t.

New chair appointed as RTEAN activities resume in Lagos

Adeniyi announced the appointmen­t of Comrade Adesina Teslim Hussaini a.k.a Okolomo as the new state chairman of RTEAN in Lagos, effective from January 1, 2024, and called on members to comply with the resolution­s.

RTEAN’s National President, Musa Mohammed informed that all suspended members have been recalled for the peace and harmony of the body.
