Diriyai, home teams, Lagos win big at 2024 PH polo tourney

Top shooting President of Port Harcourt Polo Club, Ebi Diriyai, home crowd favourites, Sidafeco Group team and the duo of Lagos Ikoyi and Lagos Awolowo teams all produced polo master class performanc­es to finish tops at the just concluded Port Harcourt internatio­nal polo tournament that came to a flourishin­g climax at the foremost GRA Polo Ground in the Rivers State capital city.

Polo Royals reports that after a week of bumper polo actions pitting top teams with all the big names in the noble game of kings

and profession­als from Europe, the President of Port Harcourt Polo Club emerged the first winner leading his Elshcon team to clinch the Rowland Cookey-Gam Cup.

Reputed as the biggest sporting festival in the oil rich Niger Delta region, the polo fiesta

lived up to its thrills and excitement­s, with the duo of Lagos Awolowo team and their Lagos Ikoyi counterpar­ts winning the glittering OB Lulu Briggs Cup and the highly revered T.Y Danjuma Cup respective­ly.

Laushi mounted team overwhelme­d their low flying Wilten Aviation opponents to cart home the royal crown and added the Governor’s Cup as Access Bank team in a show of supremacy in the final game of the tournament.

Polo Royals also report that visiting Sammy Nassredin from Jos also finished tops after leading his Red Crown team in the colours of Regenix HMD to win the General Hassan Katsina Cup. Port Harcourt Polo Captain, Alabo Harry also enjoyed podium celebratio­n after leading the Lotus Bank team to victory in the Chairbone Cup race.
