Woman, 90, granddaughter murdered in Daura
…As stakeholders ban horse-riding
A 90-year-old woman, Hajiya Amina, and her 23-year-old granddaughter, Bilkisu, were gruesomely murdered in Tudun Wada area of Daura, Katsina State.
Daily Trust on Sunday gathered that the incident took place at the victims’ residence behind Tashar Kudu in Daura, on Thursday night, and reports said the old woman was strangled to death while the granddaughter was slaughtered.
A resident of Daura also told our reporter that the granddaughter’s stomach was ripped open and her kidney removed by the assailants, an allegation Daily Trust could not independently verify.
It was gathered that not long ago, some youths had burgled the victims’ house and made away with their plasma TV, and the deceased had reported the incident to the police, adding that investigation was ongoing before the latest incident happened.
“The TV was recovered and investigation was ongoing when this terrible thing happened. Only investigation will reveal whether those who stole the TV had any direct or indirect connection with the murder,” the resident said.
Meanwhile, Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State had condoled with the family of the deceased as well as the Daura emirate council over the unfortunate incident.

Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, confirmed the incident saying details were sketchy and investigation into the matter was ongoing.
In respect to the murder case, stakeholders met and decided to ban horse-riding ceremony other than traditional Sallah durbar by the emirate.
Daily Trust on Sunday learned that the Speaker Katsina State House of Assembly, Hon. Nasir Yahaya, who is also the member representing Daura constituency at the state assembly, presided over the meeting with the local government chairman, Alhaji Bala Musa Daura, the emirate council, security agencies and other stakeholders to ban the youth horseriding.
